Iran
Iran warned South Korea that any military role in Gulf and Strait of Hormuz operations would be treated as support for U.S. aggression and would bring serious consequences. The warning came as Seoul weighed joining a U.S. naval operation that Iran described as a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. Iran said that blockade has hampered its oil exports, affecting energy shipments from the country.

North Korea
North Korea commissioned its second naval destroyer, Kang Kon, at Wonsan Port in Kangwon Province on September 6, with Kim Jong Un attending the ceremony. Kim said the warship could deliver “annihilating retaliatory strikes on an enemy” and cited constant threats. He said the vessel represents North Korea’s will to defend its rights and interests and would form part of Pyongyang’s nuclear response system. The ship is named after Kang Kon, a North Korean military leader killed during the Korean War.

Singapore
DHL is investing in a new refrigerated logistics hub at Singapore’s Changi Airport to expand capacity for shipments moving across Asia. The hub will handle vaccines, biologics, specialty medicines and perishable foods that depend on strict cold-chain handling. The added capacity can support faster vaccine distribution and steadier medicine flows for pharmaceutical supply chains. It also strengthens Changi’s role as a cargo gateway for more temperature-sensitive freight moving through Asian networks, including pharma and food shipments.
