The order gave foreign traders until this week to comply and has prompted fear among migrant communities in Nairobi. In Kibera, foreign nationals running small businesses face uncertainty, while Burundian nationals queued outside their embassy in Nairobi for travel documents during the crackdown. The order has drawn accusations of xenophobia as Kenya moves against foreign-run small businesses.

Nepal

Nepal’s army and private helicopter operators are playing a central role in rescue operations after severe flooding hit Himalayan mountain areas. Floods in the terrain can quickly cut off communities by destroying or blocking roads, making air access essential for evacuations and relief delivery. The response highlights the pressure on limited rotorcraft capacity when conventional road-based aid cannot reach remote settlements. Army crews and private operators are relying on helicopters to move people and supplies, underscoring how climate-linked disasters in remote Himalayan areas often turn on scarce airlift rather than road access.

She said Punjab’s provincial borders leave it exposed to criminal activity, illegal smuggling and extremist elements moving across domestic lines.
