Mozambique
Armed attackers abducted workers, including a South African, during a raid on a hunting camp in the Marangira area of Mozambique’s Niassa Province. The abducted group was taken from the camp, which the attackers looted and burned. They also attacked vehicles, a health center, a police post, homes and telecommunications infrastructure. The damage hit civilian services as well as an economic site, affecting medical access, policing and communications in a remote area.
Uganda
The World Health Organization declared Uganda’s Ebola outbreak over on Aug. 27, 2026. Britain’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office updated its Uganda travel advice on Sept. 2 to say the outbreak had ended. For travelers, the change meant the official British guidance reflected the WHO declaration in practical advice. The declaration matters because it can influence how travelers, governments and insurers assess health risk, border screening, public health restrictions and coverage decisions.

China
Global investment in clean technology fell in the first half of 2026 mainly because activity slowed in China, according to a BloombergNEF analysis. China remains central to manufacturing capacity for solar panels, batteries and electric vehicles, so its investment cycle matters for clean energy supply chains. BloombergNEF said China’s share of global manufacturing investment in the sector fell to a record-low 33% in the second quarter. The shift shows the market is gradually diversifying, the analysis said, meaning more factory buildouts are being spread across regions and competition is becoming less centered on China.
