Turkey

Turkish authorities detained 26 people and searched the offices of six LGBTQ+ associations in weekend raids after prosecutors alleged prostitution and obscenity. Prosecutors said the operations were carried out across 12 provinces against 38 suspects, and that authorities seized drugs, digital equipment, smuggled alcohol and a firearm. The government has framed the wider campaign in terms of protecting family values, while the raids come amid growing restrictions on LGBTQ+ groups and activists in Turkey.

Ghana

Ghana presented three investment-ready climate projects worth up to about $175 million to Chinese investors and technology providers during a China trade and investment forum. Ghana said the proposals come from its Climate Prosperity Plan Investment Compendium and are being taken to Chinese partners for financing and technical support. Ghana said the projects could support green industrialisation and climate-smart agriculture. The proposals also target carbon finance and sustainable infrastructure, moving climate-policy plans toward funded projects. They could bring more Chinese financing and technology transfer into African climate infrastructure projects tied to Ghana’s plans.

Vietnam

A study says coordinated flood resilience, innovation-zone planning and transport investment could lift gross value added in Thu Duc, part of the Ho Chi Minh City metropolitan area, by about 65% by 2040 compared with continuing current approaches. It says cutting flood risk while building the city’s innovation zone and transit links could support jobs, housing and transport. The study says flood mitigation could also drive wider productivity and investment gains. It urges governments, development partners and investors to coordinate climate resilience with land reform, housing, public services and infrastructure. The study says those steps could reduce flood losses while supporting growth.
