Jordan
Jordan’s Armed Forces said its air defenses intercepted and destroyed 18 of 20 ballistic missiles launched from Iran overnight Tuesday and Wednesday morning. The army said the two other missiles fell in open areas. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said it launched missiles at Jordan’s Al-Azraq airbase in retaliation for U.S. attacks on Iranian oil tankers. Al-Azraq hosts U.S. military assets and personnel as the United States and Iran trade strikes linked to oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.

Ecuador
The U.S. State Department designated Ecuador’s Los Tiguerones gang as a terrorist organization as Quito expands its campaign against organized crime. The department tied the Ecuadorian criminal group to the country’s organized-crime crisis, and the announcement came during a Quito visit by Secretary of State Marco Rubio focused on security cooperation. Ecuador has faced a sharp rise in violence linked to organized crime and prison-based gangs, making security cooperation a central part of the government response. The designation can trigger specific U.S. measures such as asset freezes, visa restrictions and criminal penalties for people who provide support.
Colombia
Colombia’s government is preparing announcements on reconstruction decisions for communities damaged by the 7.4 magnitude earthquake that struck Aug. 14, 2026. The review covers presidential decrees, disaster assessments and rebuilding options for several affected departments. Government disaster assessments under review reported the most serious impact in Chocó, Risaralda and Valle del Cauca. One month after the quake, the findings are expected to shape the next policy choices on where rebuilding advances and how damaged communities are prioritized.
