Guinea
Guinea’s state-owned Nimba Mining has signed a more than $300 million bauxite pre-financing and offtake agreement with Glencore to market 10 million to 12 million metric tons annually over five years. The deal gives Glencore rights to market as much as 60 million metric tons from Guinea, home to some of the world’s largest reserves of the ore used to make aluminum. Bauxite export terms matter to global aluminum supply chains and to how much value resource-rich countries capture from mining and related infrastructure. Guinea is discussing additional Glencore investment in alumina refining, energy and other strategic projects after the bauxite marketing agreement.

Rwanda
Rwanda has signed a binding agreement with Almonty Industries to take a 25% stake in Almonty Rwanda, a new tungsten venture. Almonty Industries said the government is contributing the Shyorongi tungsten exploration concession and a mineral processing licence to the partnership. Tungsten is important to industrial, defense and technology supply chains, and Rwanda is seeking more processing at home to increase value addition. The company said the venture will first source ore, pre-concentrate and tailings from existing licence holders, including small-scale miners. Initial material may be exported or upgraded before a planned processing plant is built, giving Rwanda an immediate equity position as sourcing and upgrading begin.

Senegal
U.S. company Cybastion plans to raise about $300 million for projects supporting Senegal’s digital transformation. The company says the funding would back cybersecurity and anti-cybercrime work, develop data centres, support technology transfers and expand national skills programmes. Cybastion, which delivers digital and infrastructure solutions in Africa, says the projects would strengthen Senegal’s digital security, expand data infrastructure and build local technology skills, giving the country more capacity to protect online systems and manage digital data.
