Indonesia
Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman said Indonesian authorities found 25 brands of counterfeit fortified rice being sold to consumers in Indonesia, exposing fraud in a staple food market tied to nutrition policy. Sulaiman called for harsh punishment and said sellers must not exploit the suffering of the people for enormous profits. He said some rice sold as fortified rice was not actually fortified and generated profits of Rp40,000 per kilogram, exploiting households and damaging public trust. Fortified rice is intended to help address micronutrient deficiencies, especially among lower-income consumers in Indonesia.

Qatar
Qatar ruled out the idea of building a gas pipeline around the Strait of Hormuz as Qatar announced a new investment platform linked to its gas export planning, saying a bypass would not make economic sense. The move means Qatar’s LNG export strategy will remain tied to the existing maritime route through Hormuz. That keeps investors focused on risks around one of the world’s most sensitive maritime chokepoints, a route central to Gulf energy shipments and shipping security.
