Democratic Republic of the Congo
DR Congo has begun Ebola vaccine trials for frontline health workers as an outbreak report listed 7,773 confirmed cases and 3,759 deaths in the country. The vaccination effort focuses on medical staff working at the center of the Ebola response, protecting teams needed for surveillance, treatment and infection control. The report recorded 40 new confirmed cases and 27 deaths over a 48-hour period earlier this week, adding pressure to strained health systems in affected areas. Four national deputies elected in Kisangani said transmission is worsening in Tshopo province as the trials move forward.

Cameroon
Africanews reported Boko Haram was responsible for an attack in Cameroon’s Far North that killed 15 people and drove thousands of civilians from their homes. The displaced residents have headed toward Waza and nearby border communities, raising pressure on towns with limited shelter, food, protection and medical resources. Cameroon’s Far North is part of a volatile cross-border insurgency zone and has been repeatedly affected by violence linked to the Lake Chad basin insurgency.

Mozambique
Residents in Mozambique’s Cabo Delgado province say insurgents killed three people and abducted 12 others in recent attacks in Muidumbe and Macomia. Residents also say the attackers demanded ransom payments for the hostages, adding an economic extortion layer to the province’s long-running violence. The attacks show the northern insurgency remains active despite years of military operations. Continued insecurity threatens civilians, aid access, and districts tied to major gas interests in Cabo Delgado.
