Philippines
The Philippines’ Anti-Money Laundering Council has issued a freeze order against a lawmaker it linked to an alleged corruption scandal involving flood-control projects. The council’s order blocks access to covered assets while the case proceeds through the anti-money-laundering process. The case involves flood-control infrastructure in a country repeatedly hit by typhoons and monsoon rains, where deadly urban flooding has made such projects a major public-safety issue and weak or compromised work can leave communities more exposed during storms.

Iran
Iran’s rial has fallen to a record low, with traders in Tehran quoting more than 2.5 million rials to the U.S. dollar. Tehran currency traders and market reports said the currency hit a new low as war pressure and deepening economic uncertainty weighed on Iran. A weaker rial raises the local cost of imported goods, erodes household savings and can increase hardship for ordinary Iranians even without a new battlefield escalation. The latest quotation above 2.5 million rials to the dollar marks the currency’s newest low.
