Sudan

A Sudanese official warned that a proposed 90-day ceasefire between Sudan’s army and the Rapid Support Forces could produce a Libya-style de facto partition of the country. U.S. Senior Adviser for Arab and African Affairs Massad Boulos proposed the plan. It calls for a ceasefire followed by negotiations to end the war and resume the transition to civilian rule. The official criticized the proposal as accommodating the Rapid Support Forces’ continued existence and preserving a place for the group in Sudan’s political future.

Togo

Togo’s Environment Ministry announced Thursday, October 1, 2026, that mobile environmental and forest patrol units will operate across the country, expanding enforcement beyond fixed monitoring points.
