Jordan
Interior Minister Mazen al-Faraya said Jordan has daily, direct security cooperation with Syria to counter drug smuggling across the border. He said Jordan is also helping train Syrian security agencies in border management, while Amman monitors security developments in southern Syria. Al-Faraya said Jordan faces pressure tied to the King Hussein Bridge, the main crossing with the West Bank. He said escalation in the West Bank adds security risks, and drug smuggling from Israel into Jordan by drones is rising. In a separate security issue, he said prison occupancy has exceeded 200 percent of capacity.

Somalia
The World Food Programme is working with Somalia’s government and partners to prepare communities across Somalia for heavy rains linked to El Niño, as conflict, funding cuts and severe hunger strain families.
