Saudi Arabia
The governments of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkey have agreed on a coordination arrangement focused on rapid deployments and joint deterrence planning amid tensions over Yemen and the Red Sea. The planning mechanism centers on faster force deployment, with Houthi threats driving Red Sea and Gulf security concerns. Saudi Arabia launched a new military offensive in Yemen against the Iran-backed Houthis. Separately, Yemen’s Saudi-aligned government launched its own campaign in Yemen against Houthi forces, putting Saudi forces and Yemeni government troops in separate operations against the same group.

Afghanistan
The International Criminal Court unsealed arrest warrants for four senior Taliban leaders on charges of gender persecution in Afghanistan. The warrants target Taliban supreme leader Hibatullah Akhundzada, Supreme Court head Abdul Hakim Haqqani, Education Minister Habibullah Agha and Higher Education Minister Neda Mohammad Nadim. Prosecutors accuse them of crimes against humanity against women, girls and LGBTQI+ people since the Taliban seized power in 2021. The court has no police force, making arrests unlikely while the Taliban controls Afghanistan.
