Correct a question after it is live

Edit wording or the right answer, and keep results from each version apart.

Games
Updated October 4, 2026

Stories get updated and so can games. You can change any question in a game you made, at any time, and the change reaches players on their next question. Your stats keep the results from before and after the change apart, so a correction never blurs the numbers.

Edit a question

  1. Open the game: click its title on My Games.
  2. On the question's card, open the ⋮ menu and choose Edit.
  3. Change the question, any of the three answer options, or which option is right. Select an option to mark it as the right one.
  4. Click Save Changes.

Before saving, Lexy runs the same checks as when the game was made. If one fails, the game page shows Not saved. with the reason, and nothing changes.

What happens after you save

  • Narration: if you changed the wording or an option, the question is narrated again from the new text the next time it is played. Changing only the right answer keeps the question's narration and re-records the answer reveal.
  • Players: anyone who starts the game after you save gets the new version. Every answer is checked against the right answer as it stands when it is given.
  • Stats: see below.

To re-record a question's audio by hand, open its ⋮ menu and choose Re-generate Audio.

How corrections show in your stats

Each question in the Questions section of the game's stats is reported by version. A version changes when the wording or the right answer changes; fixing a typo in a wrong option keeps the same version.

When a question has been corrected, each version gets its own line, with how many people answered it and how many got it right. The live one is labelled Current wording; earlier ones are labelled Earlier wording, with the date they were last answered. See Read your game stats.

Questions made by an Auto widget

An Auto widget makes a game for each article from the page itself, and keeps it in step with the story:

  • When an article changes in a way that matters, such as new figures or a substantial rewrite, the widget builds fresh questions from the new version on its next view. Small edits leave the questions alone.
  • To rebuild straight away, open the widget's menu on My Widgets and choose Refresh Pages, or View Pages and then Refresh questions for one article.

A rebuild makes a new game for that article. Hand edits to the earlier game stay with that game, so for an article that is still changing, correct the story and let the questions follow it.

Common questions

Does editing a question change other games?

No. If another publisher's game uses the same question, your edit is saved as a copy for your game only.

Will players see the old question?

Only players who started the game before you saved, who finish the game they started. Everyone who starts after gets the new version.
