Publish, unpublish or delete a game

Take a game live or out of play, add questions, and remove what you no longer need.

Games
Updated October 5, 2026

A game is either live or it isn't. A published game plays everywhere you've put it: your widgets, phone calls, QR codes and its link. Unpublish it and it stops for players everywhere at once, while you keep its questions and its stats.

Publish or unpublish

  1. Find the game on My Games, or open it by clicking its title.
  2. Click the arrow next to Play Game to open the game's menu.
  3. Choose Publish or Unpublish, then confirm.

The page reloads with the new status. Unpublishing asks first, because the game moves back to draft and shows only in My Games.

The menu speaks the game's language, so a Spanish game shows Publicar and Despublicar. Publish and Unpublish appear only on games you created.

What each status means

StatusWhat it means
ActivePublished. It plays in your widgets, by phone, from its QR code and from its link.
DraftNot published. Every new game starts here, and Unpublish brings a game back here. Players can't reach it.
InactiveLexy has taken the game out of play, for example because it looked like a test. Players can't reach it, just as with a draft.

To check a game's status, click Details on its card in My Games and look at Status.

My Games lists every game you made, whatever its status. To see only live games, choose Active in the status filter.

What players see when a game isn't live

  • A widget for that game says no games are available. A widget that shows a topic or category leaves the game out and shows the others.
  • Its link and QR code open Lexy's game list instead of the game.
  • Online play doesn't start.
  • Explore stops listing it.

Publish the game again and all of these come back, with the same link and the same QR code.

Public or not

Publishing and Public are two different things. Public decides whether a live game is listed on Lexy for everyone. To change it, open the game's menu, choose Edit, switch Public on or off, then click Save.

A game with Public off still plays in your widgets and from its link and QR code. It just isn't listed on Lexy.

Add questions to a game

  1. Open the game and click Add Question.
  2. Type the question and its three answer options, then select the circle next to the right answer.
  3. Click + Add question for more, up to twenty at a time.
  4. Click Add Questions.

New questions go to the end of the game, and the game keeps its status. If the game is live, players get them in their next game. Lexy checks them first, as it does when you create a game. See Create your first game.

Delete

You can't delete a whole game yourself. To take a game out of play, unpublish it. Its questions and stats stay, so you can publish it again later.

You can remove the parts:

  • One question: on the question's card, open the ⋮ menu and choose Delete. It leaves this game only. See Correct a question after it is live.
  • A widget: on My Widgets, open the widget's menu and choose Delete. The game stays.

If you need a game removed for good, ask through Support in your account menu.

Common questions

Do I lose my stats when I unpublish?

No. The stats and the player records stay with the game, published or not. See Read your game stats.

Does unpublishing break the widget code on my page?

No. The widget stays on your page and says no games are available. Publish the game again and it plays again, with nothing to change on your page.

Can I unpublish a game on one page only?

Not through the game. Unpublishing a game takes it out everywhere. To take it off one page, open that widget's menu on My Widgets and choose Unpublish or Delete.
